This is another challenge that’s been going on for 6 years. A motif or theme is given for each month and then you just need to read a book within those parameters. They make each theme pretty broad so it’s easy to crossover this challenge with others. They’re also doing a check-in at the end of each month. You’ll be able to catch mine when I review the book I read for the challenge.

If you also want to participate in the challenge, make sure you go here and sign up. And thank you to Girlxoxo for all your hardwork putting this together.

MOTIFS (THEMES) FOR EACH MONTH

JANUARY-  Winter Wonderland – Focusing on ‘wonderland’, read a book set in a truly wonderful place- somewhere you’ve always thought was beautiful, somewhere with a wonderfully rich culture, a snowy setting, or maybe even a magical realm. It’s your interpretation, so have fun with it.

Mademoiselle Chanel by C.W. Gortner – this book is set in France and is about the French fashion industry. I’ve always loved France and it holds a special place in my heart now that my son, Alex and his wife, Eva live there.

FEBRUARY- Seeing Red – Read a book with the word ‘red’ in the title OR a book with a red-ish cover. Bonus if it has both.

The Red Queen by Philippa Gregory

MARCH- Sub-Genre Sound Off – Choose a sub-genre of your favorite genre and read a book from it. Make sure you mention the sub genre you chose in your review. (Ex. Sub Genres of Fantasy could be Magical Realism, Fairytale Retellings, or Epic Fantasy to name just a few.)

Intertwine by Nichole Van – This sub-genre is time travel and my favorite genre is historical fiction.

APRIL- Classics or Currents – Read a book published before the year you were born (classic-ish) OR a book published between April 2019 and April 2020 (current.)

Well Met by Jen DeLuca – This won an Amazon Choice Award in 2019. I always put these winners in TBR lists because the Goodread readers vote for these awards so I feel like they’re worth reading. I chose this book for this prompt because it looks cute and like a fun story.

MAY- Author Introduction – Read a book written by an author who you’ve never read anything by. Bonus if its been on your TBR for more than a year.

Ragtime by E.L. Doctorow – Ragtime has been on my TBR since 2017.

JUNE- Name or Number – Read a book in which a name OR a number is part of the title. Bonus if the title includes both a name and a number.

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

JULY- Around or Out of this World – Read a book set in a country other than the one you live in OR written by an author who is from a country other than your own OR read a book that takes place in space or on another planet.

What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty – This author is from Australia.

AUGUST- Creature Feature – Read a book that includes a creature of some kind on the cover or in the story. Cat, dog, dragon, werewolf – mythical or real – find a book that features a creature.

Marley & Me by John Grogan – I’ve had this book on my TBR for awhile. I’m looking forward to reading the book so I can finally watch the movie too. (Jennifer Aniston is on my top 10 of favorite actresses too.)

SEPTEMBER- When Text Just Isn’t Enough – Read a book that includes more than just text. Maybe it’s a map, a family tree, illustrations, documents like emails or letters- something else that helps to paint the picture.

Black Beauty by Anna Sewell – This is a Kindle in Motion book and let me tell you they are AMAZING!!! I can’t wait to read this book like this.

OCTOBER- Thrills and Chills – Ghost stories, haunted houses, true crime, murder mysteries, a thriller keeping you on the edge of your seat- it’s up to you!

We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson

NOVEMBER- Dynamic Duos – Read a book with a couple of characters that make the perfect pair whether in business or in love. (Ex. Sherlock & Holmes, Elizabeth & Darcy)

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson – I had to look this prompt up to get some ideas. I found this idea at The Perpetual Page Turner. Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist work together in this book to crack the case.

DECEMBER- Sugar, Spice, Everything Nice – Holiday or winter themed reads, love stories and romances, happy cries, comedies; round out your year with a truly feel good read.

A Christmas Bride by Jo Ann Ferguson
